Private Charter Booking 2024

Enjoy a relaxing cruise on the scenic water of the Kalamazoo River and take in the magnificence of Lake Michigan aboard the Star of Saugatuck. Private charters are perfect for any occasion, offering your guests the opportunity to celebrate, team build or get reacquainted while enjoying food, drinks and taking in the splendid views along the way. The upper patio deck allows guests to take in the terrific shoreline, at the same time as the indoor lower deck provides maximum comfort – no matter what the weather.

Charter fee: $3,200 (includes 1 ½ hour cruise, additional time is $300/30 minutes)

Evening/Sunset Cruise
Charter fee: $4,500 (includes 1 ½ hour cruise, additional time is $350/30 minutes)

Before May 24 & after Sept. 2

Additional charges will apply for set up & take down of extra tables, linens, special orders and incidentals.

Star of Saugatuck reserves the right to examine any carry-on items including bags and purses.  The navigational route of the Star of Saugatuck is at all times to be at the sole discretion of its captain and operations manager.

Star of Saugatuck LLC restricts the right of admission to capacity of the vessel and is not responsible for accident, loss or damage to property.  Upper deck capacity 80 passengers.

Terms & Conditions 2024

Cancellation/Refund

Event deposit will be refunded in full if event is cancelled 60 days prior to event date.  Failure to cancel within this time frame will result in forfeiture of deposit.  Groups cancelling within 30 days of the event will also be responsible for all expected cruise charges.  You must speak to Julie Ziemann personally when cancelling your cruise.  Deposit refund will be mailed to you within 10 business days of cancellation.

In cases of Mother Nature or mechanical failure, the boat will sit dockside until the storm passes or at the discretion of the Star of Saugatuck LLC if conditions are deemed too dangerous.  A full refund of deposit will be issued if event is unable to be held for that reason.  Any food intended for the cruise must be paid in full and can be delivered to an alternate location.

In the extreme case of a global pandemic or government shut down that would inhibit travel or gatherings; i.e. COVID, a cancellation of 48 hours would be required to receive a full refund on the deposit.

Food & Beverages Service

The Star of Saugatuck reserves all refreshment and alcoholic beverage sales and concessions.

NO OUTSIDE BEVERAGES ALLOWED without prior written consent.  This will result in termination of your event without return of fares.  No alcoholic beverages may be brought on or taken off the boat.

If you have a special request or need for your event, please contact cruise coordinator 30 days prior and we will do our best to accommodate you.  Please ask us for catering options.

ALL CONCESSIONS ARE CASH ONLY ON THE BOAT.

Alcohol

MICHIGAN STATE LAW PRHIBITS ALCOHOL CONSUMPSION BY PERSONS UNDER 21 YEARS OF AGE.  Photo ID is required.  Star of Saugatuck reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.  All alcohol must be served by Star of Saugatuck staff.  Any misconduct that compromises the safety of the passengers, crew or boat will result in immediate termination of cruise/event.  Upon termination, the Chartering Party is responsible for all billable event fees.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE.

Boarding

The Star of Saugatuck will be available for boarding up to 15 minutes prior to the scheduled event time.  When the event is over, gusts must disembark the vessel within 15 minutes or the Chartering Party will be charged for additional time.  Star of Saugatuck reserves the right to examine any carry-on items including bags and purses.  The navigational route of the Star of Saugatuck is at all times to be at the sole discretion of its captain and operations manager.  Star of Saugatuck LLC restricts the right of admission to capacity of the vessel and is not responsible for accident, loss or damage to property.  Upper deck capacity 75 passengers.

Children

Children are welcome to join your event as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult.  Children MUST always be with an adult.  You are responsible for your children.  Due to limited space, strollers are to remain on the dock.

Handicap Accessibility

The lower deck is wheelchair accessible with a handicap accessible bathroom.  Please consult the cruise coordinator about restrictions and how we can accommodate your guest’s special needs.  We cannot accommodate wheelchairs wider than 27 inches.

Entertainment/Decoration

Any form of decoration and entertainment must have prior consent from the Star of Saugatuck’s cruise coordinator.

Damages

The Chartering Party is responsible for preserving order among its guests and preventing damage from occurring to the vessel and its equipment.  The representative of the Chartering Party agrees to be responsible for any cost or expense incurred by Star of Saugatuck LLC as a result of damage to the vessel or its equipment by their guests.

Payment Information

A deposit of $800 is required upon signing this contract to reserve the desired charter date and to bind the Chartering Party to their full payment.  Forfeiture or cancellation of charter does not negate the liability for payment of minimum contract.  Chartering Party agrees to pay collection costs if necessary, including reasonable attorney fees.  Any litigation arising from or relating to vessel passage shall be conducted in the State of Michigan, and Chartering Party consents to the jurisdiction of the courts of the State of Michigan.

Charter fee (less the $800) MUST BE PAID IN FULL NO LATER THAN 30 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE in accordance with the total number of passengers and length of charter reserved.

Failure to meet this requirement will result in a $200 service charge.  Any remaining charges for additional services must be paid in full by the end of your cruise.  Please be prepared to pay with cash or credit card.  If balance is not received by the end of your cruise, a $200 service charge will be assessed.
